Mike Sayers’ comments on Chad Gerlach

And Mike Sayers, unlike when you trashed me on your blog, I’ll invite you to actually share your opinion directly with Pappillon’s readers and clarify your comments. Anything you’d like to say, email it over or leave it as a comment and it will be published unedited, in-full.

  1. I don’t think that commentary is overly negative. It seems that he’s concerned about the guy, albeit in a somewhat condescending way.Thanks,BurtP.S. – you need a poll for what will occur first: A Philly Cancellation Announcement, or a Rock Racing Folding Announcement.

  2. Hi Burt. Thanks for taking the time to comment. I’m not willing to give Sayers the benefit of the doubt, because I’ve personally been the target of his vitriolic rants. Any concern he might have for Chad is trumped by what you rightly point out as condescension and what I think are sour grapes…Sayers is retired, and Chad has another chance to live the dream. Sayers’ comments remind us why, if we can’t say something nice about someone, we shouldn’t say anything at all (but here in this blog we’ll make an exception to that rule, so that we can give two thumbs down to Mike Sayers).

  3. Great idea on the poll. I’ll try to figure out how to add that to the blog – will you do Pappillon the favor of promoting the poll through LAD, though?

  4. I don’t know Sayers, but those comments are reasonable and intelligent to me, with the experience I have with substance abuse in my family.

  5. I too think Sayer’s comments are on the up and up.

  6. very good posting. thank you. 🙂bathmate

  7. Sure thing, Bathmate. We can all wish Chad the best of luck with his sobriety and family. Good luck, Chad!

  8. And I still think Mike Sayers was wrong to discourage Chad from going to Europe at the start of 2009 season … b/c Chad proved he could come back to top-level racing, certainly in the USA and at least not get shattered in Europe. Now, however, he must focus on the rest of his life. Bravo, Chad. Forza!
